Physio-chemist Prof Dr Janina Kneipp is this year’s awardee of the Caroline von Humboldt-Professorship
The renowned professorship is funded with 80,000 euros annually
The professorship named after Caroline von Humboldt is awarded each year to honour an excellent female professor at HU. It aims at increasing the recognition and visibility of female academics. This year’s awardee is the physico-chemist Professor Dr. Janina Kneipp.
The professorship is endowed with a one-year grant of 80,000 € which can be used in a flexible way for the professor’s future career, in particular as initial funding for a research project. For the Caroline von Humboldt-Professorship 2019, nominations from all disciplines were taken into consideration. A high-ranking interdisciplinary jury decided on this year’s awarded on 9 October 2018.
The Caroline von Humboldt-Professor 2019, Janina Kneipp, is an outstanding researcher with a high national and international reputation for her innovative basic research and application-related results in spectroscopy at the interface of chemistry, physics and biology. At the same time, she is strongly involved in the academic self-administration of the university and actively supports particularly qualified young researchers. The jury recognized her as being an excellent researcher with “great personal impact” both within and beyond the university.
The award ceremony will take place on 11 December 2018 at 6 pm in the Senate Hall of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
