An On-The-Ball Media Location
Ideal conditions for perfect production flow
Berlin Adlershof is not only Germany’s largest science and technology park, but also Berlin’s biggest media location. For a long time media, science and technology have coexisted in this interesting neighbourhood which offers excellent opportunities for cooperation.
1991 marked the beginning of a new era in Adlershof: The former GDR’s Academy of Sciences was converted into a science and technology park, and the former television broadcast centre became the media city. In 1994, Studio Hamburg moved to Berlin Adlershof creating, together with Studio Berlin, a state-of-the-art location for TV and film productions. The ten studios make for a suitable backdrop for political events and TV shows. The cine film “Good Bye, Lenin!“ was produced in Adlershof, and it was here that the candidates for chancellor held their head-to-head TV debate. Currently, Germany’s most successful casting show is produced here, looking for ”The Voice of Germany“. Moreover, during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the FIFA availed itself to the services of an armada of OB vehicles equipped with ultra-modern technology.
Besides Studio Berlin, another 138 companies have settled in the media city of Adlershof which, among media experts, is considered a location of perfect production flow. Conditions are ideal not only for the production, but also for the entire post-processing work. Numerous post-production businesses are present at the location, working in the fields of cutting, copying, dubbing, animation and picture editing. Set design and stage construction workshops as well as costume and props rooms with a total of 300,000 items allow for the scenographic composition of major productions.
TV + Synchron Berlin GmbH, for instance, has an extensive sound archive containing a total of over 15,000 sounds and atmospheres as well as voice samples from more than 1,000 actors. Founded in 1991, the company dubs content such as Brasilian telenovelas, US-American TV series and movies, Korean Sci-fi films, action thrillers from Hong Kong or animated cartoons from Australia.
Compatibility is the business of Media Logic GmbH which works for film and TV productions, radio broadcast studios and other broadcasting organisations throughout Europe. Wim Wenders‘s Oscar-winning documentary “Pina“, for instance, was post-processed by Media Logic, using a 3D-capable image feed system.
Located nearby, Tonbüro takes care of the sound editing, sound design, dubbing recording and sound mixing for cinema and TV productions – for example for the film “Trade“ which, although not an Oscar winner, was awarded the German Film Award for the category “sound“.
As many as 15 times, drei d Medienservice provided the backdrop and technology for BAMBI, Germany's most famous deer. Working for TV stations and notable producers such as Endemol or Constantin, the company provides the lighting, sound and camera technology or, as a matter of fact, the appropriate backdrop for their productions.
The music portal Dooload is a specialist in the marketing of musicians, providing musicians with access to 400 internet shops. While YouTube or MySpace are used by artists to promote themselves on the net, Dooload intends to be a tool for the marketing of artists. The company’s product range includes the pressing of CDs, the publishing of music and the promotion of its artists on the radio, on TV or at festivals.
Image, sound or backdrop – the entire location has long become a film star itself. Its spectacular buildings in particular make it a desired place for promotional filmmakers, TV and cine productions.
