The development of new pharmaceuticals and diagnostic procedures is inconceivable without biotechnology. The interface between science and business plays a pivotal role in this industry. Many of the 230 biotech companies in Germany’s capital region are spin-offs from research and science. Research institutions and companies work together closely on research and development. Technology parks like Adlershof offer ideal conditions and contribute to the leading role of Germany’s capital region in the Life Sciences.

As part of my work for Berlin Partner for Business and Technology, it is one of my tasks to help increase the international visibility of the potential and strengths of our life science region and to internationally promote it as a business location. Trade fairs and conferences – such as the upcoming BIO International Convention in San Diego – offer an ideal platform for this purpose. For years now, WISTAMANAGEMENT GMBH has been visiting the convention and showcasing the great number of biotechnology and analytics companies based in Adlershof to an international audience. The international reputation of our site with globally active companies is also reflected in the “Berlin-Brandenburg Night@BIO”. Berlin Partner in cooperation with Bayer Healthcare are hosting the event on the opening day of BIO for the sixth time which attracts more than 400 visitors from the international biotech and pharmaceutical industry every year.

Our international activities facilitate access to global target markets for the players of the capital region. Moreover, the aim of attracting foreign companies to Berlin is an integral part of our internationalisation strategy. We want the region to continue growing. The highly specific expertise of our resident biotech companies and research institutions are a great asset. Many globally active companies – such as Bayer Healthcare, Sanofi, Pfizer or Takeda – value the potential and strength of the capital region and have long settled here.
