Sustainability and Precision Heading South-East
Porsche Centre Berlin Adlershof
Berlin‘s southeast has a new gem. After only eleven months of construction time, Adlershof‘s new Porsche Centre was opened in mid-July 2017, marking yet another milestone for the technology park. On a plot area of more than 9,000 square metres, clients and visitors can experience a unique mix of professional sportiness, efficiency and sustainability.
This is the site of a solar project unrivalled to date. It represents the new quick charge infrastructure’s centrepiece and is, at the same time, a powerful symbol of the high value Porsche places on sustainable strategies. Its emblem, the 25m-high solar pylon – the only one of its kind across the globe – can be seen from way beyond Adlershof’s boundaries, guiding visitors right to 98 Hermann-Dorner-Allee. The pylon supplies the quick charge park and ist hybrid cars and electric vehicles, and provides energy for the Porsche Centre itself.
Porsche Centers in Berlin deliberately opted for Adlershof, a location that is both innovative and rich in tradition. From 1926, Ambi-Budd manufactured bodies for a large number of European car manufacturers and acted as a pioneer in the production of all-steel bodies in Germany. It was therefore logical for Porsche to pick up where Ambi-Budd left off, ensuring the successful, ambitious and innovative continuation of this tradition.
According to the tradition of the location, the workshop is specialised in car bodies. Qualified professionals cover the fields of car body construction and maintenance, using state-of-the-art CAR-O-LINER systems which, literally, perform the work accurate to the millimetre. In fact, CAR-O-LINER is tantamount to a small revolution as it has rendered superfluous the classical straightening bench commonly used over decades.
Having established the new Porsche Centre in Berlin Adlershof, Berlin’s Porsche Centres are now pooling their professional passion at three locations: in Berlin-Charlottenburg, in Kleinmachnow and, since this summer, in Berlin Adlershof.
