Let’s talk about ENERGY
We’re not only doers, we’re talkers too: about how we communicate location knowhow for the energy transition and demonstrate best practice
What are the new legal regulations for the energy transition? How can I achieve energy efficiency? How can I save energy costs? Where can I find cooperation partners for my energy technologies? In order to answer these and similar questions from diverse interest groups, Beate Mekiffer and her team from WISTA-MANAGEMENT GMBH have elaborated a number of information formats. “The Energy Manager presents”, for example, is the title given to a series of events that quite specifically targets the needs of partners at this location. These communicate the latest developments and potential for the optimisation of energy consumption in processes and buildings. For instance, the Energy Manager sent out invitations in October 2014 to a “light tour” demonstrating the efficiency of interior and exterior lighting.
Another facet to these events takes the form of so called Adlershof Technology Tours. The runup took place in January of this year, dealing with the subject of storage technologies for the energy transition. “Our Technology Tours demonstrate the energy efficiency technologies that were developed in or for Adlershof,” explained Mekiffer. These tours focus on innovative energy technologies installed directly on site. Plans are for two further tours this year; the next will be taking place as early as this summer, concerning cold supply and air conditioning. The targeted guests are multipliers and cooperation partners in the region.
Yet Beate Mekiffer is not only thinking on the regional level, but broadening her horizons on the global scale. This year she has also scheduled so called energy talks with the aim of discussing how to set the course needed for the energy policies and management of the future: “This is to overcome the obstacles associated with penetrating the market for new energy technologies,” she explained.
Also international cooperation projects have proved highly promising in endeavours to achieve energy efficiency. This was confirmed by the Turco-German Innovation Forum for Energy and Environmental Technologies that has been held alternately in Adlershof and Istanbul since 2013. Furthermore, Adlershof is a partner in the D-A-CH Association, promoting the exchange of ideas between institutes in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. For instance, universities and firms in Vienna, Graz, and Basel are collaborating with Adlershof experts on many projects, including energy hybrid systems.
“Networks are a key element for the integration of all our activities in the region,” stressed Beate Mekiffer, referring to the WISTA-MANAGEMENT GMBH memberships in the Berlin-Brandenburg Energy Network, the Federation of Company Associations BUV, Berlin Partner for Business and Technology, Berliner NetzwerkE, and the Enterprise Europe Network. At Berliner Energietage, the Adlershof Science City will be hosting its own session on 29 April.
